Look what’s going on at Central!

VARIETY SHOW PUT TO TEST AND PASSES WITH FLYING COLORS

Variety Show is a fantastic Central tradition, showcasing student talent in —yes, a variety of areas. Audience behavior was uncivilized enough last year to place the show on probation this time around. Fortunately, students took the warning to heart and the show was a success on many fronts. Fifteen acts were chosen from some 60 talent auditions. The devils’ Advocate reported that one act went right off the applause meter, receiving a standing O to boot: That would have been the daredevil performance with juggling knives.

CHARACTER EDUCATION INITIATIVE TAKES HOLD

For over a year now, three active committees (comprised of 55 adults and 10 students) have worked diligently to strengthen the character within the school and the community by focusing on a consistent set of ethical values. Trustworthiness. Respect. Responsibility. Fairness. Caring. Citizenship. These six character pillars have become important components of daily life on campus, in the curriculum, and within the larger community. New course offerings, jazzy cafeteria pillar décor, character week activities, community conferences, awards breakfasts, PTO recognition gifts — these are just some of the exciting practices designed to impact student perceptions and positive behavior. The school is getting better every day.
