Look what’s going on at Central! THE ARTS History tells us that a dance group
named Orchesis once plied the boards at Central. Now the spirit of dance
has been revived as the Hinsdale Central Dance Company with some 20
members. The inaugural performance will be held on May 30 featuring dance
numbers selected by audition. MUSIC STUDENTS EARN PLACES AT FESTIVAL 34 students represented Central at
the Illinois Music Educators Association District Music Festival, securing
their places after successfully completing stringent auditions. Honorees
won spots in the Choir, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Concert Band and Orchestra.
ALL-STATE MUSICIANS NAMED BY IMEA 5 Central students were selected
for all-state musical ensembles at the Illinois Music Educators
Association convention. Performance categories included Honors Choir,
Orchestra and All-State Choir. ART STUDENT RECEIVE REGIONAL HONORS 25 students earned 30 awards in the
regional Scholastic Art Awards held this year at the Elmhurst Art Museum
in nearby Elmhurst, IL. Three students will go on to national competition.
Central’s artists received Portfolio, Gold, Silver and Honorable Mention
awards for their work in a wide range of media including computer
graphics, drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry, photography and sculpture.
THESPIANS PARTICIPATE IN THEATREFEST Competitions, workshops,
performances—all go to make up a rich, four-day experience for Central
drama students. This year’s program was held at the University of
Illinois and attended by 34 from Hinsdale. Our “tech kids” took fourth
place in the Tech Olympics.
