ACADEMICS & ACCOLADES

CENTRAL RANKS 2ND ON STATE TESTS FOR JUNIORS

The results were surely worth the effort. After two days of testing, the scores attained by our juniors on the statewide Prairie State Achievement Exam ranked Central second in Illinois among public schools. Congratulations, one and all.

AP SCHOLAR AWARDS ANNOUNCED

The College Board has reported that 127 current or graduated Central students have earned Advanced Placement Awards recognizing exceptional achievement on the college-level examinations. Only about 13 percent of the 700,000+ students who took AP exams last May performed at a sufficiently high level to merit commendation. Four students qualified as National Scholars and 51 as Scholar with Distinction. Another 44 students received Scholar Awards.

150 SENIORS NAMED ILLINOIS STATE SCHOLARS

Recognition is based on a combination of test scores on ACT/SAT exams and class rank at the end of junior year. About 10 percent of the state’s high school seniors are designated State Scholars and receive a Certificate of Achievement for the accomplishment.

SENIOR CITED FOR SUPERIOR WRITING ABILITY

Pat McGrath was selected as one of just 670 high school seniors from across the country honored as outstanding writers by the National Council of Teachers of English. Write on.

GOOD CITIZEN AWARDS GO TO TWO SENIORS

Susie Skoda and Alexis Colianni received this year’s Good Citizen Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution. They were selected by their peers and faculty for exhibiting leadership, service, dependability and patriotism.
