ACTING OUT

The freshman play was staged in mid-October with a small cast of 10 performing a play within a play. The murder mystery/comedy was entitled You Have the Right to Remain Dead. The fall play opening November 21 took the format of a play within a play as well. Twenty-two student actors have been cast in Stardust. This is the first time the fall play will also be submitted to the statewide Theatre Fest competition. If chosen, take the production will travel to Champaign IL. A new comedy improvisation club welcomes students to test their comedic stage talents. Tryouts were held in October and the club will shift into gear during December. Members will be trained by professionals from The Comedy Sportz Club of Chicago. Teams will practice against one another before competing against other area h high school troupes.  

HONORS MUSIC PROGRAM ADDED

Students in concert band, jazz band, orchestra and choir classes are now eligible for honors level credit through the music department. Auditions and additional course work are required including: an honors recital, a 1000-word essay related to the recital musical selection, a second solo recital performance piece, and participation in the IHSA solo contest. Individual practice time and private lessons must be documented and signed by a parent and the music instructor. Also new is an Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory course.
