Look what’s going on at Central! ACADEMICS STARTING STATISTICS Central began the school year with about 2400 students in attendance. The faculty grew by 32 teachers in 10 departments. Construction to expand and renovate the building will begin in June: the library and cafeteria will both get bigger and new classroom space will be created to accommodate a future school population of 2700. NATIONAL MERIT HONORS Eleven seniors have been named as National Merit Semifinalists for scoring in the top half of one percent of more than a million seniors nationally who took the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Twenty-six additional seniors were named as Commended Students for placing in the top five percent on that same test.
