 2005 Inductee Tony Paris Field of Distinction: Education
His
successful teaching career while at Hinsdale Central includes 15 State
Champions in the IHSA State Latin Tourney; in the American Classical
League National Exam many Gold Medal winners that included 19 PERFECT
scores. Thanks in part to Tony's contributions, Hinsdale Central
over the last 20 years, has earned the most Latin awards in the State
Tourney of any public school in Illinois. Tony has been
honored as the Illinois Classical League Teacher of the Year and the
Vital Times publication Award Of Recognition.
Perhaps more important than the awards, his students will always remember Tony's personal qualities, his energy, his philosophy of life, his dedication, his care for his students, his enthusiasm and his great memory for the names and faces of those he taught over the decades. Especially gratifying for Tony, is three of his former students were inspired to become, and still are, teachers at HCHS. Tony and his wife Julie reside in Elmhurst and have two grown sons, John and Charles. Tony Paris is an inspiration to all he encountered at Hinsdale Central.
